“When I first came to see Tej, I was experiencing what I considered as anxiety, depression and severe mood swings, which constantly affected my relationships and self-esteem. I had previously worked with therapists and medical psychiatrists who had prescribed me with antidepressants and had done some short term talk therapy with me without getting to the root of the problems, which only had confirmed my initial belief that there is something fundamentally wrong with my psyche, backed by variant rushed diagnosis and drug prescriptions, making me feel stuck in a dark place thinking it would never go away. I did not make sense of my mood swings and had a firm belief that I would never be able to have a normal, healthy or sustainable relationship and connection with anyone in my romantic, professional or even family life. After weekly sessions with Tej for a couple of months, I started to see a massive change in my view of my relational patterns, which had started since childhood and carried on until now. I learnt to be an observer of these patterns which enabled me to actively change them. I came to the realisation that I have been mismanaging them by long term use of antidepressants, which I believed I’d never be able to cut down, and substances like caffeine. All the factors leading to my low moods made more and more sense with this approach and by carrying on with the therapy and talking through these with Tej, I started seeing life changing improvements a couple of months after that. The most helpful tip I could offer anyone re what to expect when working with Tej is to trust the process. She has a kind and supportive presence and does make the therapy session a judgment-free and soothing space, which makes it much easier to open up. It does not take a long time to start seeing significant positive changes after starting the therapy, which would transform one’s life long term. She has an in-depth knowledge of attachment theories which can be seen as result of these sessions, however she never overwhelmed me with any terminologies or technical terms, which made the connection really easy and talking to her felt like chatting to a friend. Based on my previous experiences with various therapists, I had an ideal of a perfect therapy and healing process in mind, which believed would never happen but was proven possible this time. I have managed to cut down the dose of my antidepressants significantly in these challenging times of pandemic and have learnt to let go of unrealistic fears. I now have a clear perception of myself in relation to others which helps me to understand my feelings and theirs better and more compassionately. I can now see possibilities of having a healthy and functional family of my own which I always considered impossible. The constant support, patience and emotional care I have received through therapy lead me to discover my patterns of thinking and behaviour and be assured that I am capable of loving and being loved and supported. It has helped me to alter my internal dialogue in a positive way and has made me improve my family and work relations. Finally, It has made life a more beautiful and brighter concept for me and has revised my prior believes of therapy being a painful and dark process. I have Improved my life in unimaginative ways and strongly believe that the world would be a more benevolent place if more people went through this process with Tej.”
