“I have been working with Christie on and off for more than two years. I have found her clear approach to be very helpful in understanding my issues and how to best manage them. She sometimes recommends books and articles which give me more technical understanding and additional information. I find this particularly useful to help me centre myself in other people's experiences, and this also helps me reflect and journal in between sessions. Having the focus to reflect between sessions means I am using counselling actively to work on myself, rather than passively, and it's Christie's approach and guidance which supports me to do this. I like the consistency of her approach over time, and I feel like I really benefit from my sessions. Therapy gives me the chance to discuss things which I can't or don't want to discuss with my friends or people around me, and it supports me to regulate my emotions and reactions. Therapy (and Christie) really helps me to understand myself better and my 'parts' and this is so helpful in managing my life. ”

With his guidance and knowledge, as well as him just being there for me to open up, something I struggled to do beforehand, gave me the confidence to help me change habits that were having a seriously negative impact on me and people around me. He is everything I always wanted from a therapist (I've had several, not all bad, in the past) and I didn't realise until now how impactful it can be to have a good therapist who is truly attuned to you as an individual. Alex makes the sessions feel comfortable and safe but also challenging.
