25 Years Experience

Rob has twenty-five years’ experience of working as a counsellor with clients of all ages from 18 to 85. He offers both short-term therapy (typically 6 – 8 sessions), as well as longer-term work which could be once or twice each week over several months. He is also a trained mediator and has extensive experience of working with couples

After qualifying in 1992. he worked as a counsellor at King Alfred’s College in Winchester (now the University of Winchester). While at Winchester he developed both a Certificate course in counselling and later a Diploma course. He also wrote and directed a short film about the psychodynamic approach to therapy. The Winchester counselling diploma ran for several years and Rob lectured on a number of topics including counselling for depression, anxiety and stress as well as theoretical approaches to therapy and counselling skills.

In 2000, he opened a private practice in Chichester. He specialises in working with people suffering from depression.

He also works as a lecturer at the University of Chichester specialising in issues around early childhood. His book Child Development and the Brain (2015) is available from Policy Press. This explores the way in which discoveries in neuroscience are informing and changing our understanding of children’s development.
