24 Years Experience

I counsel individuals and couples from my private practices in Central London and Richmond. My main therapeutic goal is to help every client realise their inner potential through an interactive and supportive relationship. I believe we all have the ability to be active participants in our own self-healing journey. My aim is to empower my clients by helping them become their best selves in a safe and cooperative environment.

Prior to starting my practice in London 11 years ago, I worked for Rape Crisis South London, where I have continued for 15 years. Working first as an individual therapist and now primarily as a group facilitator, I offer specialist therapy to trauma survivors. I have a Certificate in Supervision from the Society of Analytic Psychology (SAP) and currently supervise groups.

I spent 8 years as a Primary Care Counsellor with the NHS providing short term, solution-focussed treatment based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches to patients with complex needs. I have worked as a counselling consultant for large employee assistance programs and as a domestic violence counsellor in various organisations for many years. I have developed an in-depth understanding of abusive relationships, loss, migration, work stress, bullying in the workplace amongst a multitude of issues and people's innate desire to survive and rise again.

My approach is psychodynamic and relational. My goal is to help clients navigate through any difficulties they may be experiencing to help them gain a better understanding of themselves. I work collaboratively with clients to develop new, healthier perspectives on thoughts and patterns that may be unhelpful and resultantly impacting behaviour, work relationships and life choices.

Some of the issues I work with:

Self-Improvement: Confidence and Self-doubt

Depression: Loneliness, Depressive Episodes, and Suicidal Thoughts

Relationships: Family Issues, Separation, Divorce, Step Families, Romantic and Sexuality Issues

Stress: Work-related Stress, Anger, Anxiety, Traumatic Events

Trauma: Domestic Abuse, Childhood Abuse, Sexual Trauma, PTSD

Grief: Loss, Mourning, Bereavement

Fertility: Reproductive Issues, Post-natal Depression

"I went to see Naelah following a difficult period after my divorce, relationship difficulties with my children, and love/hate relationship with work. She gave me time to explore how I felt, why I felt, and different ways to think about situations and myself. I saw Naelah throughout Covid-19 lockdown which brought it's own stresses. Throughout she prompted and encouraged my discoveries, was unafraid to challenge me, and made simple practical suggestions that have me immensely. I cannot recommend her enough. And, I shall stay in regular contact to continue to access her calm wisdom. "

"Naelah made our first session very comfortable. She asked really interesting questions and my partner and I felt very comfortable being open about our past and current situation. "
