I am sorry to read that you were very disappointed with our session. I did, however, read your email before the session and I do have a lot of experience with blended families. This experience has taught me how painful these situations can be for everyone involved and that the only thing that helps is for the adults concerned to put their feelings aside and collaborate as parents for the sake of their children. I know this is very difficult to do but there is no other suggestion to make. The other parent cannot be influenced by a discussion when not present and someone must make the first move towards more amicable relationships which will protect their children from further hurt. I understand this is not always possible because of the strength of feeling. The difficulties are not usually one person’s fault. I regret that our discussion was experienced in such a negative way and that I was not able to help you find an acceptable way forward. If you and your ex-wife are unable to communicate productively then the only way forward may be through Court.
