4 Years Experience

I am a person-centred practitioner, committed to client self-discovery and growth. I work in private practice and, additionally, have worked as a volunteer in the NHS, a local charity and a bereavement agency, all of which have provided me with a diverse range of clients and a very broad range of issues to work through with them, both short-term and long-term work. I am fundamentally optimistic about any individuals's capacity for growth and self-acceptance.
Most of us can experience difficulties in life and feel less able to cope - it can be overwhelming, lonely and frightening. I offer a non-judgmental and supportive relationship to enable each client to work at a pace and depth that suits them. My work as a therapist is enriched by my background in education and I have extensive understanding and experience of supporting teenagers and their families. It was the experience of seeing young people in various states of emotional distress that prompted my decision to retrain. I passionately believe that early and appropriate support for young people can enable them to lead happy and fulfilled lives.
In addition I have considerable experience in working with clients following bereavement which can be a particularly difficult time for clients as they come to terms with their loss and attempt to move on with their lives.
It can sometimes be very difficult to talk to friends and family, we often fear their rejection or judgement or we protect them by not sharing our innermost feelings. It can also sometimes be true that modern lifestyles are simply too busy to find the right opportunity. I offer a confidential counselling service and aim to support you in exploring whatever issues you wish to talk about. Our talking therapy sessions can provide an environment and opportunity for self-discovery. At the start of the process, clients can sometimes feel overwhelmed, helpless and that change is impossible. However, my firm belief and experiences, my own and those of my clients, is that enhanced emotional well-being is achievable.

I am currently available on Wednesdays and Saturdays at The Tree of Life, although other sessions may be negotiable. .
