10 Years Experience

Vanessa is an Australian trained and qualified Practitioner & Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). She is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), a member of their Holistic faculty and maintains membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She specialises in working with adults experiencing a wide range of psychological and emotional challenges from managing stress, anxiety and depression, dealing with relationship difficulties and is currently fostering her special interest in trauma work. Having previously been in post as a Deputy Manager of a mental health care home, Vanessa has spent significant time working with family members and carers of loved ones living with enduring and chronic mental health difficulties. As a result, she is sensitive to the specific support needs of those who find themselves in this caring role.

Vanessa’s approach is integrative, drawing from her training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Process Psychotherapy to support clients through a variety of common and complex issues and life difficulties. Vanessa has an interest in neuroscience and biology coupled with the latest research developments into Compassion Focused work and Mindfulness and their applications to working with trauma, promoting self-regulation, self-efficacy and enhancing general wellbeing.

Vanessa's main goal in therapy is to facilitate a process that feels natural and uncomplicated; one that allows you to make sense of your problems, identify what is important to you and learn effective new skills that help move you towards the life you want to be living. We often get stuck waiting for things to get better before taking action on our lives. Why wait any longer; through therapy you can get doing and start living, now.
